[There is a small, slim, and unfamiliar black cat walking the Barge this weekend. A familiar item hangs around his neck: two coins fused together by supernatural strength, hung on a leather thong. With it, the cat seems to pass freely throughout the ship, though he clings to shadows in the hallways.]

[Most often, he can be found in common rooms, curled up on the best chair and watching the goings-on with barely-open yellow eyes. In the gardens, he naps in the flower beds and climbs into the thickest parts of low-growing trees. Here and there he can be found in boxes where he probably isn't supposed to be, seeming to look for small spaces and pressing himself into corners.]

[He also makes his best efforts to trip people, looking incredibly smug with every success.]

[Don't ask how he got in here. Some things it's better not to question. But he's found Vesper's paperwork, which is suddenly the most fascinating and important thing in the world.]

[Whenever she comes back, he's rolling on his back in the middle of a mess of papers. Which are his now.]

[Dean has had just enough time to go back to leaning over the hopeless mess of what should have been electrical wire but, instead, makes zero sense to even be running an outlet.

He frowns at the cat.]

I will absolutely pet you if you stay there.

[As far as threats go, this is about zero percent effective. Cassel brightens and leans in closer, because who even cares, this is his life now. If he is going to be threatened with attention, he will absolutely call that bluff.]

[And then bat at the roll of electrical tape, and then bat at Dean's knee.]

[Your move.]

[Dean, when he finds his bluffs called, nearly always retaliates by following through instead. He raises an eyebrow at the soft pats of the cat's paw, watching the tape and parts swing, glancing down at the contact with his jeans.

Then he reaches across himself and roughs the top of the cat's head because, goddammit, he warned it.]

[To Cassel, whose idea of physical affection has run the gamut from nothing to physical violence to wrestling to actual gentle touch, sees no issue with this as a way of interacting with someone significantly larger and stronger than himself. He also doesn't see anything weird about it. In terms of weird shit, this doesn't even register.]

[Butting his head against Dean's hand hard, he begins instantly and loudly to purr.]

[Dean is shockingly affectionate, once one learns his language; sparring, medical attention, physical humor, sex, casual touch, the hunter is more tactile than he'll ever let on easily, willingly.

This does not, notably, extend to different species. However, he is also a big dumb softie and he rolls his eyes but keeps petting.]

You should know that if this is supposed to be blackmail material, you're gonna have to try harder than that. There's no shame in my game.

[What the hell is shame? Cassel has no idea - at least not right now. Now, he's just pleased with the attention and leaning hard against Dean's hand. At one point he almost falls over, but recovers himself and turns the stumble into . . . sort of a side-step thing. Which he totally meant to do.]

[He squints happily up at Dean, puts his paws up on his knees, and then jumps on his shoulders, the better to impede his progress with.]
