Czeslaw's gone. His door and everything is blank.

. . . I don't really think he made many friends while he was here, but. I'm going to light a candle for him, if anybody wants to join me.

[It's quiet and still in here, which is good; it matches how Cassel is feeling. Quiet and still, like a windless world. He doesn't know what to make of this reaction. He can feel himself grieving, but it's muted, as though muffled by layers and layers of cloth.]

[With aching fingers he carves Czeslaw's name into a white candle, uses his lighter to light it. After a moment of watching the flame, he carves another name - Slevin's - into another candle, and Daneca's into a third, and hopes (doesn't pray) that they wake.]

[Cassel's still taking double shifts at the gym. He's a pretty common fixture at this point, and when he's not furiously cleaning something he's doing light work on the mats, training with Kon or Cass or James.]

[The rest of the time, he's either locked up in his room or tucked away in a quiet corner of the greenhouse. There's still a strange feeling of safety that lingers here, even though he knows that whatever reason Ivy had to protect him when he was small, it doesn't carry over to now. He brings a book and curls up behind a raised flowerbed anyway, taking sanctuary in the quiet when he gets too antsy to stay in his room.]

Barron left. My brother's gone.

[See Cassel. See Cassel run. See Cassel run around the inside of this goddamn box with a dog at his heels. For the first time since his death at Syo's hands, he looks ruffled, afraid. He stops at every window, looking out into the black, but Patches barks at him and he backs away.]

[He feels like a rat in a maze, a cat in a cage.]
