So, I know she talked to some of you about this already. But I thought I'd make sure everybody knew, so nobody worries-- I--

Needy graduated. She didn't go home, yet, probably because her home's total bullshit [and he's pretty sure she's still wanted there??]. Sunny, haunted Beacon Hills, California was the destination of choice, for those of you who really need to know.

Anybody who wanted to say goodbye and didn't get a chance to, um, I can probably get a message to her. And by "I can get a message to her" I mean "I can have Iris get a message to her".

[Mickey looks sort of thunderstruck, but he tries to shut it down quickly.]

[He means it sincerely, but his voice sounds a little hollow anyway.]

I got my deal. Not like I'm going anywhere, but yeah, I did.

[He does, but he shakes his head anyway. He doesn't know what he would say. He doesn't know what anyone says in a situation like this.]

Wichita doesn't look sad, but she doesn't seem particularly happy about the news either. friendship was this weird, foreign thing to her still, but the fact that they were both stuck on the other Barge for a month, helped each other out in whatever way, that- meant something. ]

[There are worse things to be than a bitter inmate. Less legitimate things, too. Being an inmate sucks in about eight thousand ways, and anyone who was one at any point shouldn't, in Cassel's opinion, blink when they get pissed off. There's a lot to be pissed off about.]

[Loneliness is one of those things.]

[He thinks he might be starting to get it now, though.]

Yeah, I'm glad she gets to go wherever she wants. I'm staying, though.

[She just stares, for a second, because quite frankly she's forgotten how to handle good news, but then she grins.]

I did okay. I think next time I'm looking for a record turnaround time, though. Like maybe a 24-hour inmate. Really rack up those records, you know?

Congratulations. [Kind of reassuring to hear about a graduation a couple days after you first got here.

Someday, it'll probably feel a little misleading (which is no one's fault), but right now, it's reassuring.]

[But he thinks about not getting to say goodbye, how it seems like he never gets to say goodbye to the people that really matter. The words hurt, too, but he forces them out. Maybe this is growth, even if it feels sort of like he's cutting himself open.]

I mean, could you-- just tell her that I'll miss her? And I guess that-- I mean, I hope she's happy.

[He can hear it, as clearly as if Andrew had said it aloud. And as much as he gets it - that Needy had to go, that she didn't have the energy to stay here for one more godawful thing happening to all of her friends - he gets Andrew, too. He gets that this hurts too much to even begin to talk about.]

[A tiny sigh, through his teeth - and he nods.]

Yeah. I can tell her that. For what it's worth, I think she is. Will be. Whatever. Both.
